All of us have been, will be, are thinking about being there - doing better for our health. I am no nutritionist by any means, but I have read a great deal of articles and some books about reasons Americans eat the way they do. We have been raised on addictive foods that add little to no nutritional value to our bodies. A 15 to 30+ year habit is hard to break.
The other day my roommate and I decided that, starting today, we are going to do away with meat and do juicing and smoothies for the next week. Well… on Thursday she made pasta carbonara. We had left overs for Friday. She took some to work for lunch. My leftover portion was not consumed as it slipped my mind while babysitting yesterday.
My roommate and I got up and did yard work. We had water and oatmeal for breakfast. I thought to myself, “I’ll just have the carbonara I didn’t eat yesterday and eat clean for the rest of today.” I had the leftovers and we went out to run errands. I brought an apple with me, she brought an orange. We’re doing well.
Errands are finishing up. “What’s for dinner?” We decided on pizza. I even had the audacity to tack on a slice of red velvet cake to the order. Fail. The pizza was tasty and the cake was alright.
I’m going to start again tomorrow, no matter what unhealthy suggestions are placed in my path. I need to do this. I want to do this. It just gets so hard, but I’ve let my tastebuds hijack my tummy for too long.
