Amateur Tech Talk: Longevity and Durability
I love music. One Christmas my parents gave me an iPod Touch, 16 gigs I believe. I loved it. After a few years, it started showing its age. I couldn’t download certain apps, the memory was getting full, and Apple releases a “new and improved” version of everything they sell every 6 months it seams like.
I wanted a tablet, but I didn’t want to lose my music. I was NOT going to get an iPhone. I looked into the iPads - did research, weighed pros and cons, searched for the lowest price. I almost settled for a Best Buy purchase. It just so happened that one of my neighbors was getting rid of his new iPad Air and I bought it.
As much as possible, I get a case for all of my electronic devices, and they always come from Amazon. I found the exact case that I wanted. I was a little hesitant after ordering it because the colors online and the color you get don’t always seem to match. It was perfect - perfect color, perfect fit, perfect function. I also ordered a tempered glass screen protector. Another perfect purchase - it fit perfectly and couldn’t even tell it was on there. I bought these items in 2015 and didn’t change them until 2019.
I would have purchased the same case 1) had i known that I could just go to my order history and 2) had i not let it get so dirty. The edges were also worn from years of opening and closing the case, but it survived much turmoil. And so did the screen protector. It finally cracked a little on the corner during the last year and just got worse as months went on. I went on to purchase a new case and protector for my iPad. I’m not completely happy with the new case as it is already cracked, but the new screen protector works great as it is the same.
