I worked at one of the Value Resorts at the Mouse’s House. My shift was normally from open to midday. I didn’t see much of my roommates as we worked opposite shifts, picked up shifts, hung out with other people. I didn’t have a strong desire to make bonds with my roommates, but they were very kind. I’ve always had a hard time making friends because I’ve always been that weird introvert, recently broken from the shell of shyness, terrible at carrying conversations. So I normally attract extroverts.
I gained made the acquaintance of three individuals that I could safely call friends. They too were part of the internship. The first we’ll call Anna - sweet, funny, and feisty. The second we’ll call Laura - slick talker, party girl, and sneaky. The third we’ll call Amber - friendly, almost always smiling, very laid back. I would say that I hung out with equally. We normally spent our off time at The Parks.
Laura and Amber lived in the same housing complex as I did. But they both had vehicles of their own. I normally caught the bus to work. I may have ridden with Amber once. Laura started giving me rides when she was put on the same shift as me. A couple of times she asked me to drive because she was still drunk or too hungover. I didn’t judge. I just made sure to get us there on time.
I kept in touch with them as long as I could, now it’s more of seeing what they’re doing on social media. Anna went on to become a mommy - not sure if she finished school or if she got into a profession. Amber ended up working for The Mouse by way of journalism - she’s doing very well from what I can see. Laura was kicked out of the internship close to the end for stealing money from the registers. I never quite figured out how she got away with it for so long - but The Mouse sure does have a way of terminating employment discreetly. I lost touch with her and always wondered what she made of herself.
