Lady Talk: Menstrual Health
When I was 10, I began my transition into “womanhood” a.k.a my body started releasing eggs a.k.a. “Aunt Flow” became my new monthly visitor. Of course, I got the destructive extended stay version of the period. I will spare the embarrassing and gruesome details, but I (like many young ladies) hated life after this change. I was poorly educated about what was happening and what was supposed to happen for a very long time.
During college, I started making an attempt to wean myself off of birth control pills. I hated them - they messed with my psyche overall. I felt like all they did was minimize my anguish to 7 days at maximum capacity. Pads are not free and I used A LOT of them. The pads I liked to use then are not cheap. The pads I like to use now are even more costly - which I don’t mind, because my lady bits need the best.
I finally started doing thorough research on what the cause of my issue is, how to diminish the symptoms, and what replacements to apply. I stumbled upon The Honeypot Co on Instagram, watched and read reviews, then purchased the soap and liners to start. I eventually started using their pads and wipes. I love these products and this company.
Later on I found a wonderful lady named Tierra Burrell. She has a video on YouTube called ‘Mastering Your Menstrual Webinar’. She provides so much insightful information and makes health products of her own now that I use. She revealed my birth control replacement - Slow Flow by Vitanica. I take this daily to help maintain a healthy womb. I also use their menstrual pain product Cramp Bark. It works most times, but I have some other changes that still need to be made consistent in my life.
Overall, I have only for three to five days, less cramping, less bloating, almost no crazy mood swings, and more living. All of this is contingent upon how I eat in the weeks leading to it, but I am on the path to bettering my womb health.
